If you happen to be a car person, Las Vegas has a lot to offer.
Cars, racing and working on automotive projects have been interests of mine for years. So when I talk about enjoying life in Las Vegas, the local car scene is part of that conversation.
This past weekend, I attended the Concours at Wynn. It gave me a chance to spend time around something I enjoy—and a reason to share a side of this city that you might appreciate, too.
When people ask what it’s like to live here, the conversation often starts with the Strip, restaurants and entertainment. Those are certainly part of the appeal. But your experience of Las Vegas also depends on what you enjoy doing.
For me, cars are one of those interests that make a place feel more like home.
A car can start a conversation pretty quickly. Maybe it’s a model you once owned, something you remember from childhood, or a project you understand because you’ve spent your own weekends working on one.
You don’t have to have the same taste in cars to find something to talk about. Sometimes having different tastes makes the conversation more interesting.
The Concours at Wynn brings together rare classics, collector cars, supercars and hypercars. You can find more about the event on the official Concours website.
For someone who enjoys automotive design and mechanics, there’s plenty to appreciate. These cars invite you to look closely: the proportions of a body, the details of an interior, or the way an engineer approached a problem in a different era.
I enjoy that connection between appearance and machinery. You can appreciate a car as a beautiful object, then start thinking about everything involved in making it run.
That’s part of why an event like the Concours appeals to me. It gives me an excuse to slow down and spend some time with an interest that’s been part of my life for years.
One thing I appreciate about living here is the opportunity to build a life around the things you enjoy.
For a car enthusiast, that might mean attending a show, talking with another owner, following racing, or spending an afternoon working on a project. The shared interest gives you a starting point. The people you meet can become the reason you keep showing up.
That matters when you’re getting to know a city. Finding a house is one part of moving. Finding the activities and people that make you feel comfortable is another.
Since moving to Las Vegas in 2014, I’ve enjoyed discovering those connections for myself. The car scene is one of them.
My work naturally involves a lot of conversations about homes and the real estate market. But I also want to share what I enjoy about actually living here.
This week, that happens to be cars.
In my latest video, I start at my desk with a few thoughts about Las Vegas car culture, then share a look at my visit to the Concours at Wynn. I hope it gives you a feel for why this is something I enjoy.
And if you’re a car person, too, I’d love to hear from you. What do you drive? Are you working on a project? Or is there a particular car you’ve always wanted?
